It's Monsters Day!
over 7 years ago – Sat, Jul 15, 2017 at 07:26:24 PM

Let every day be Monsters day in your hearts!

Calloo! Callay!
Calloo! Callay!

I got a bunch of boxes of Monsters delivered to me today, which means that my fulfillment folks at Magpie Games should be getting the rest today or perhaps Monday. My hope is that they can start shipping things out before GenCon, but I'll double check on that.

In any case! The book looks fantastic. I want to thank all of you once again for your support, both financially and creatively.

Other Growling Door Games News

We've started work on the next Chill supplement: The Undead. Unlike Monsters, I'm only writing a small portion of it; I've got a bunch of really talented people working on the book, some of whom have contributed to other Chill books and some of whom are new to the line. You'll be able to see their bios up on the Growling Door site soon (I'm waiting on pictures from a couple of them).

Speaking of the site, I'm going to be putting up a blog post about Chill once a week starting next Monday (7/17) and going until October 2nd, to gear up for the launch of the Undead Kickstarter on October 3rd. I would love it if you'd come over to the Growling Door blog and comment, share the links, join the mailing list, tell us about your Chill games, or just wave hello.

Once again, thank you so much for your support! You'll be getting your copies of Monsters very soon!

Monsters are here! BackerKit Warning!
over 7 years ago – Wed, Jun 28, 2017 at 08:19:31 PM

Hey, folks! I just heard from the good folks at KrakenPrint that the copies of Monsters are in their warehouse! From here, most of them get shipped to Magpie Games in New Mexico to get packed up to send to you! (The rest come to me here in Ohio so I can sell 'em.)

What that means is that the BackerKit is in imminent danger of being closed out! I'll be locking down the orders and charging folks' credit cards on Saturday, July 1st. If you haven't filled out the BackerKit (which is only like 11 of you), or you need to change your address or your credit card, you can go here and find your survey.

If you want to pick up your copy of Monsters at GenCon, you must contact me through Kickstarter's PM function before Saturday. I'll put a credit on your BackerKit so you won't get charged, and I'll send out instructions on where to pick up your book before GenCon.

If you haven't gotten your PDF code, PM me and I'll send you one (but I do want to note that even if you didn't get the email, you can log in to DriveThruRPG and you should have a message waiting with the download code).

Any other questions? Here I am!

Other Business

Three pieces of business, really:

  • There are two new Chill cases available for free download on our site. You can find The Last Stop Boys (by Julia Neves) and Whispered Confessions (by yours truly) here.
  • I started work today outlining the next Chill sourcebook: The Undead. Want to help me out? Watch the Growling Door blog over the weekend for a post about it and a request for inspiration!
  • We've got some non-Chill stuff coming up in 2018, including (finally) some progress on our sci-fi dystopia Daedalus. Join our mailing list to get updates and learn more!

May Update: It's Quiet. Too Quiet.
over 7 years ago – Thu, May 25, 2017 at 08:33:22 PM

Greetings, envoys!

It's nearing the end of May, but I don't have a lot to report. That's actually a good thing. Monsters is now available for sale in PDF right here. If you've downloaded your backer copy and had a chance to read it, perhaps go on over there and give us a nice rating or review?

The print copies are at press, and I have no reason to assume there will be any problem getting them into backers' hands in August. ETA: I've just been informed that the books are in fact on their way to the US as we speak! Yay! Monsters in bound on a ship!

There are about a dozen of you that haven't filled out your BackerKit. Please remember that if you don't fill out the BackerKit, you won't get your rewards. If you're getting physical product shipping to you, you'll be asked for a credit card, but it will not actually be charged until July 1st

BackerKit Closes July 1st

This is basically what I just said, but I'm saying it bigger. I'm closing the BackerKit and charging everyone's cards on July 1st. I'll send out a 24-hour warning, so that if you need to put money in an account or change cards or whatever, you'll be able to do that.

Other Things of Interest

  • Event registration for GenCon opens this Sunday (May 28) at noon EST. There are 10 different Chill events being run, so if you want to play, you should be able to get into one!
  • I'm running two games of Chill at the upcoming Origins Game Fair in Columbus, Ohio, June 15-18. I don't know if there are seats left or not, but my experience is that if you show up with some generic tickets there's a non-zero chance you'll get to play.
  • I'm running a game of Chill this weekend at Nexus Game Fair in Milwaukee, Wisconsin! My game is Sunday 10AM-2PM, and I think you can sign up on their site.
  • You can get news about Growling Door Games, including Chill and other upcoming projects (like our cyberpunk RPG Daedalus) by signing up for our mailing list here.

As always, thank you so much for your support!

PDFs Are Imminent!
over 7 years ago – Mon, Apr 17, 2017 at 03:32:26 PM

Greetings, Monsters backers!

The PDF of Monsters is just about ready; we have a few minor changes to make, but hopefully those will get done this week (Thomas is on a trip, so it depends on his layovers).

Once those changes are made, I'll be sending out DriveThru RPG codes to everyone who gets a PDF of the book.

What means is that if you haven't filled out your BackerKit survey, you need to do that, because if you don't fill it out I don't have an email address to send it to.

As of now, there are only 13 of you who haven't filled it out. Remember that although the system will ask you for a credit card (if you're getting something shipped), the card doesn't get charged until July 1st, and you can change that information any time you want. So, go ahead and fill out your surveys! Monsters are coming soon!
